A World Cup in the Pandemic

A World Cup in the Pandemic

After one year of only training and doing competitions in Hungary, I finally fenced internationally again. Even though I am not a senior yet, I fenced well. The World Cup was hosted in my homecity: Budapest. It was amazing to be at a World Cup again, but difficult at the same time. I never came from the best fencing background, but I always managed to do well because of my mental strength and focus. Coming from a small fencing country, means that you, as the underdog, have to work even harder than the rest. This is something I am good in, but as much as I hate to admit it, one year of no competitions effected me too. However I found back that focus that I always ‘magically’ had, during the day

I survived the poule round, but had a very strong opponent in the first elimination, due to a bad ranking. I lost with 13-15 which was really good.  But most importantly, I found back that fighting spirit after this pandemic year and I feel ready for the worlds that are upcoming.
